Cat Yak
After a week of packing and cleaning, it is all done, and I am back in Quesnel.  I had a few fleeting moments of regrete, but it passed.  Talk to me again in three weeks when the novelty of being here wears off.  I am so sick of packing it is almost ridiculous, yet, I know I will be doing it again soon, so I am trying to block it out of my mind for now.

Nothing overly exciting happened during the move.  I hired my cleaner Felimon to come clean my apartment for me.  He is the sweetest man ever.  I asked him for a quote and he said "what ever you want Carey, you do so much for me" (to be fair, I did get him three big Janitorial contracts that made it able for him to start his own company)  So I gave him $75.

I forced Colin to help me, which was a life saver (he moved heavy stuff)  I paid him with a box of microwave popcorn, a coupon for a free Rogers Chocolate and a $5.00 gift certificate for the bookstore.  There are three funny Colin stories I can tell that made me laugh...

1.  When he arrived this morning, the first thing him and my brother moved into the horse trailer was my couch.  When he got to the trailer, he looked around and said "so, how did we do this last time?" Reference: Colin has moved me five times in the last 4 years, so he know my stuff intimately

2.  I was moving boxes and suitcases out into the lobby and he was packing them to the trailer.  On one trip out to the trailer with my suitcases, he looked at my brother and said, "I guess I am not getting my luggage back, huh?"

3.  This story I personally find the most funny, and no one else will get it or possibly understand.  I found an old canvass bag in my closet, I thought it was empty, but when I dropped it, it went clunk.  Upon investigating the sorce of the "clunk" I found something totally amazing!  I got so excited, and said to my brother, "OMG, where is Colin?  He is going to freak when he sees this!"  I showed my discovery to my brother, who looked at me like I had lost my marbles (more than were already gone at that point), and I said, "No, you don't understand, Colin is absolutely going to love this!  He is going to LOVE me!"  So we went down to the trailer to find Colin, and I showed him my discovery... There was an old post-it note, in his handwritting, attached to it, so he read it, looking a tad confused... then he looked at the package.  Then is eye got huge and he said "OMG!" and gave me a huge hug!  My poor brother is utterly confused at this point.

So I am sure you are wondering what on earth I found in the old bag in my closet.  Get ready.... 3 coat hooks.  From Ikea.  The kind that you hang on the top of the door so there are no screws or holes.  Fascinating huh?  Well, for me and Colin, it was pure gold.  Six years ago, we found them at Ikea in a bin for fifty cents each, and we bought a few for the theatre to hang art in the lobby.  We only bought about 25 or 30, thinking we would just go back and get more when we needed them.  Little did we know that was the last bin of them ever to be created and they were discontinued.  We spent the next five years searching every home store, hardware store and dollar store in Vancouver for something remotely simular and have never found anything like them.  I didn't find it particularly funny that I found them in a bag in my closet, but that I knew exactly how Colin was going to react when he saw them.  Classic.

The drive home was fairly unevently.  Poor Kesey was a bit freaked at first and wouldn't stop meowing.  And he was panting... panting like a dog.  I have never seen a cat pant before, it looked hilarious.  Then he pooped... twice.  He looked embarassed and tried to hide it the second time, but I told him it was okay, I understood.  We drove home through the canyon, which is my favorite way (I hate the Coquahala) we were weaving and turning and up hills and down hills, fun right?  Not for poor Kesey... he came up to the front seat and got car sick all over the passenger side mat.  I think he felt better after that though.  Dispite having puke all over his face, he layed down and pretty much slept for the rest of the trip.

So now we are here.  I am really tired and I don't have a plan, so who knows what I will be doing tomorrow.
